Transport Minister, Blade Nzimande, failed to show up to the meeting he had scheduled with the family of the deceased Taxify driver, Siyabonga Ngcobo.
It’s clear that the ANC does not take the plight of e-hailing drivers seriously.
The DA will submit a motion in the Gauteng Legislature to ensure that government intervenes in the war that is being waged by meter-taxi operators on e-hailing drivers.
Ngcobo, who subsidised his studies by working as a Taxify driver, was burnt to death after being locked in the boot of his vehicle, allegedly, by meter-taxi operators.
Minister Nzimande was scheduled to meet with the Ngcobo family on Friday but failed to show up.
It’s clear that despite a change of Minister to the Transport Department, under the ANC, it’s business as usual, despite drivers and passengers being put at risk every single day.
