The Police has arrest two Durban Men, age 21 and 22, who were believed to have taken part in the vigilante attack and brutal assault of a 38-year-old man, accused of being involved in criminal activities in the area on Monday.
The 38-year-old from Bhambayi, Inanda was brutally attacked and beaten to death in a case of crowd justice.
Brig Jay Naicker, Police Spoke person stated that the man was rushed to the hospital but could not survive.
“He was accused of being involved in criminal activities in the area. He was brutally assaulted and sustained severe injuries. He was taken to a local clinic, where he died.”
“A case of murder was opened at the Inanda police station, and the two suspects are expected to appear in the Ntuzuma magistrate’s court tomorrow. More arrests are expected as the investigation progresses,” Naicker said
Lt-Gen Khombinkosi Jula, KN Provincial Commissioner also criticized the actions taken by the communities.
He said; “We can never accept communities resorting to criminal behavior and justifying their actions by claiming that they are fighting crime.”
“Those who are involved in such lawless acts will face the full might of the law.”
