Today the DA Team One South Africa Spokesperson on Corruption, Phumzile van Damme, campaigned in Ward 25 in Mayfield in Ekurhuleni to listen to the concerns of residents who have been living in RDP houses with no title deeds, some for more than 15 years.

Only the DA is committed to bringing change to the lives of the people of Mayfield who are in desperate need of adequate housing and employment opportunities.

The only way this can be done is through a transparent, published housing allocation list.

Ward 25 is the largest in the Ekurhuleni Metro, covering the border of Tshwane towards Daveyton and includes extensions 8, 9 and 11 as well as three extensive informal settlements.

This is a long-standing crisis that highlights the inability of the failing ANC to deliver to the people of Gauteng.

Residents of this ward have been forgotten by the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements which is responsible for allocating RDP houses, and hundreds of them have no title deeds to prove that they indeed own their houses.

Since taking over the ward, the DA Councillor has tirelessly lobbied the government to do something about this problem.

The DA is calling on residents to register to vote for the DA in the upcoming election to enable it to govern the whole of Gauteng.

We are committed to building one South Africa for all, free of corruption where everyone has a home and is able to access opportunities and real, long-term jobs. Only the DA can speed up the delivery of quality services so that our people can live in dignity.
