Cloetesville High School in Stellenbosch Western Cape has suspended a grade nine learner for allegedly stabbing a fellow student.
According to reports, the learner stabbed a grade eight pupil in the back and face in the school premises while the learners were moving from one class to another.
Although the reason for the attack is not known yet but the child is currently suspended from entering the school premises.
The Western Cape Education Department has also confirmed the incident.
Provincial Education MEC spokesperson, Jessica Shelver also confirmed the incident and said that such violent behaviour will no be tolerated in schools.
“While we have many socio-economic challenges in our province, we cannot become a society that accepts or condone violent behaviour in our schools,” He said.
