Pirates have already been linked with two other Celtic players – left-back Bongani Sam and winger Kabelo Dlamini.


The Mighty Buccaneers have since announced the departure of centre-back Marshall Munetsi to French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims on a permanent deal.

The Soweto giants are also expected to announce more departures from the camp before the end of this week.

According to a source close to Mabaso, the player has already been informed about interest from the Soweto giants.

“Orlando Pirates are shopping around for a striker. Mabaso is one of the players identified and there has been contact,” said the source.


The 22-year-old showed plenty of promise last season as he managed nine goals, including two braces against Bidvest Wits and  Baroka, in 23 Absa Premiership appearances,


Orlando Pirates have already signed Fortune Makaringe ahead of the start of new season, in which they will contest no less than five competitions, including the CAF Champions League.
