Ajax Cape Town’s coach, Muhsin Ertugral believes they will not be docked points for fielding striker Tendai Ndoro.
Ndoro’s arrival in Cape Town followed a stint with Saudi Arabian club Al-Faisaly, but began the current campaign with Pirates.
According to Fifa rules, a player may not feature for three teams in the same season‚ Ertugral appears to have issues with the interpretation.
The Turkish mentor reckons that if the verdict were to be overturned on appeal‚ there was no way that having been given permission by the correct decision-making body‚ that the league could retrospectively deduct points from the relegation candidates.
Ertugral’s utterances come after the club was give the green light by the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chambers (DRC) to continue using the Zimbabwe international after ruling in his favour earlier this year.
“People say they might take points – how do we know that? It is hypothetical talk‚ so let’s see what they do‚” Ertugral said to TimesLive.
“I personally don’t believe we can be deducted points and I know from my side it won’t happen. The DRC has decided we can use him‚ so I am going for it. There will be (another) hearing very soon about it,” continued the coach.
“First the officials said‚ ‘wait‚ don’t use him’‚ and we did that. Then the DRC said we can use him. So, I am using him. There has been no other letter from the officials to now say not to use him again.” concluded the 58-year-old.
The former Orlando Pirates striker has represented the Ikamva-based side in four league games as they collected seven points in their bid to move away from the relegation zone.
