The Ugandan international was named in the CAF’s best African XI for 2018, alongside the likes of European-based players, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita.

Speaking to the media, the goalkeeper was asked which goalkeeper in the PSL he thinks is next in line for CAF honours, however, Onyango was unable to point out a particular player.

“Next in line, I can’t say who is next in line in the PSL but it is all about staying focused, there are a lot of quality in the PSL and it is more focusing on doing well in the CAF CL and in the national team and also in the league, because you can’t play in the CL without winning the league back home, these things go hand in hand,” Onyango told the media.

“I see a lot of potential from the goalkeepers down in South Africa but you also need support from your teammates to achieve all this. I can’t say at the moment who can get to this level but I believe that a lot of qualify for can do it they just need to believe in themselves,” he added.
