Words reaching us has it that Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has reportedly agreed a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Reports emerged that the injury to Dennis Onyango led Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane to contact Khnue over a possible loan move.
However, with Khune’s contract with Chiefs coming to an end in June 2020, and the club not in a hurry to renew it, the shotstopper wants a permanent move to Sundowns and would want to buy out his contract.
Khune penned a five-year deal in 2015, a few months after the club decided to let him go following the expiry of his previous contract.
He has been one of Amakhosi’s key players over the past three seasons, and his contribution to the team is huge.
According to Mr Zungu, “Khune is willing to buy out his contract with Chiefs to make his move to Sundowns permanent”
Onyango missed the goalless league draw with Baroka on Tuesday and previous 5-1 rout of Leones Vegetarianos in the CAF Champions League after picking up the knock in the Tshwane derby win over SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on December 1.
The Ugandan, who has been nominated for CAF’s African Player of the Year award along with ex-Sundowns teammate Percy Tau, will make his return in the new year.
