Kaizer Chiefs have announced their new head coach, following the departure of Giovanni Solinas.

On Friday afternoon, Chiefs announced that they parted ways with Solinas, as well as Patrick Mabedi, who has been his assistant.

At the time, the club announced that both coaches contracts were terminated. It has now been confirmed that Ernst Middendorp is the new head coach to take the team further in their 2018/19 campaign.

“We were looking for a coach who is experienced and who has an understanding of the club’s footballing culture,” Chairman Kaizer Motaung told the club’s official website.
“That’s certainly the case with Middendorp, who won trophies during his previous stint in charge of Kaizer Chiefs.
“Middendorp also understands South African football well, having a vast knowledge and experience of our local football. We are looking forward to working together.”
“We need stability and the coach will start working with the team on Saturday.”
