Kaizer Chiefs inspirational player has accepted the coach decision to swap him.
Daniel Cardoso, is likely to be used by Ernst Middendorp to play at right back this weekend against Elgeco Plus, with Ramahlwe Mphahlele injured and Kgotso Moleko unregistered for the CAF Confederation Cup.
It would not be the first time that the former Free State Stars man has been asked to play out of his natural position, and it was the 30-year-old that came on for Mphahlele when he sustained his injury earlier this month.
Speaking to the club’s official website about the prospect of filling in at full back, Cardoso said, “I’m comfortable playing anywhere… It’s a good thing that I’m very versatile although I’m most comfortable at centre-back because I enjoy challenging in the air for balls and commanding centrally from the back.
“Coming into this weekend’s game, it’s unfortunate that Kgotso Moleko is not registered. It’s a big blow for us because he’s a natural right-back and he’s got the steam to go up and down the line but I am comfortable playing at right-back.”
The defender also gave some insight into Chiefs’ defeat at the hands of Zimamoto in Zanzibar, where their first leg victory made sure they progressed despite an away loss.
He added, “The playing conditions played a big role, the humidity there was insane. Playing in Africa is always tough as the conditions aren’t always favourable, so it is always important to get off to a good start at home.”
