As the midweek fixtures begin this night, Kaizer Chiefs have lost a key player ahead of their tie with Tshwane giants.

Chiefs will be without one of their key figures for Ernst Middendorp’s debut at the club this week, with the German having to make a big decision in the heart of his midfield.

Willard Katsande, who has been almost ever-present for Chiefs this season so far, picked up his fourth booking of the campaign during the defeat to Golden Arrows, meaning that he now faces a one-game ban in the Premier Soccer League.

Middendorp is also without injured defenders Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Erick Mathoho, who are only due back in the new year after undergoing surgeries.

Players from other clubs are also to sit out this midweek fixtures.

Pirates midfielders Xola Mlambo and Marshall Munetsi, and performance analyst Franck Plaine will sit out this evening’s league clash with Free State Stars at Goble Park, with Nyiko Mobbie likewise suspended for the hosts.

Polokwane City have been hardest hit by suspensions tonight, as they will have to make do without star playmaker Jabu Maluleke, Edgar Manaka, Japhet Borges, Lesiba Aphane and Amos Dhlomo against Highlands Park at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Lions of the North, though, will be without suspended pair Lindokuhle Mbatha and Sello Motsepe.

Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane will be missing defender Mosa Lebusa tonight against Baroka, who are without Bonginkosi Makume for the tie at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
