The Economic Freedom Fighter EFF have been labelled as seniour graduates of the corrupt ANC. This is according Prince Mashele.
The opposition party is suing political analyst Mashele for ‘defamatory’ statements made against party leader, Julius Malema.
Mashele has refused to apologise for his statements regarding Malema and his band of revolutionary red berets. As a result, the EFF has initiated legal proceedings against the political analyst – seeking R1 million in reparations for Mashele’s alleged defamatory remarks.
During an SABC interview, which occurred in the wake of the VBS Mutual Bank scandal, Mashele took direct aim at the EFF, targeting deputy president Floyd Shivambu’s link to the wanton looting. Mashele went on to label the EFF as a reactionary party, formed in the dubious shadow of the African National Congress (ANC), with the purpose of perpetuating corruption, saying:
Malema formed the EFF after being expelled from the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in 2012. Since then, the firebrand leader, who once vehemently supported former president Jacob Zuma, has sought to tarnish the ruling party as kleptocratic enablers.
However, Malema and the EFF’s pivotal anti-corruption stance has come under fire following allegations of fraud relating to the VBS Mutual Bank saga, in which Shivambu’s younger brother, Brian, was implicated in a dubious R16 million deal.
Earlier in the year, Malema found himself surrounded by controversy due to his close relationship with alleged underworld kingpin and illicit cigarette trade mastermind, Adriano Mazzotti.
