A 51-year-old man was found dead in  Rustenburg after he allegedly shot his 45-year-old girlfriend on her shoulder and killed two have her daughters.

The woman managed to escape and he allegedly drove to her house where he found her daughters, age 11 and 15, sleeping and shot them, and fled the scene.

Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani stated that the man had a fight with the girlfriend in a village near Mogwase on Monday after he forced her to accompany him to the bush.

She said; “The boyfriend who used his vehicle, allegedly forced the girlfriend to accompany him to the bush where a fight ensued between them. It is alleged that the suspect shot the girlfriend on her shoulder.”

“He allegedly shot and killed the girls and fled the scene with a Nissan Harbody Bakkie.”

“Subsequently, his charred remains were found inside the burnt vehicle about 20 km from the initial murder scene, the girlfriend was taking to a local hospital where she is recovering.”

Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, Provincial police Commissioner has condemned the incident , says the police are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of women and children.

“While the police are doing their best to deal effectively with violence against women and children, it is important that professional assistance is sought to ensure that disputes are resolved amicably.” she said.

The police are currently investigating two count of murder and one attempted murder.
